MANDALA / F8 is a work in which the motif painted on the canvas appears differently to each viewer. To some, it may recall the form of a dragon; to others, it may resemble the mane of a guardian lion-dog found at Shinto shrines.
The flow of the lines and the form itself are clearly defined, yet their meaning is not fixed. The impression shifts depending on the viewing angle and the position of the viewer, revealing subtle differences each time the work is seen. The combination of glossy and matte surfaces adds a sense of depth to the otherwise flat canvas.
