Is it like a shooting star, or a trembling soul?
“MANDALA” is a series inspired by the swirling patterns carved into the guardian lion-dogs found at Shinto shrines. These forms—symbols of protection, circulation, and the flow of life—are rendered by Kuwai Hana with a distinctive sense of depth and an expressive use of light.
Layers of specially formulated paint and a metallic surface interact with changing angles and light, revealing shifting expressions and creating a sense of quiet depth within the composition. Though compact in size at F8, the work possesses a dignified presence that resonates powerfully within a space.
