Kuwai Hana’s signature spiral motif is rendered across the canvas, expressing a sense of undulating movement. Within the compact and approachable F4 size, the artist’s distinctive depth of spirituality and meticulous handcraft are fully condensed. Built up through multiple layers of special paint, the spiraling pattern is inspired by the komainu—guardian lion-dogs symbolizing protection. Depending on the angle of light, prism-like glimmers emerge from beneath the silver pigment, revealing ever-changing expressions.
