DRAGON / F50 is a work in which the maturity of color expression and spatial awareness within the DRAGON series by UNDULATION / Kuwai Hana is clearly evident. Set against a predominantly black ground, layers of red and purple—at times appearing pink depending on the light—interweave to bring the dragon’s form and movement into view within a state of quiet tension. Rather than sinking into darkness, the colors are restrained by black, maintaining subtlety while creating a depth that gently draws the viewer’s attention inward.
The F50 scale provides a presence capable of serving as a focal point within a space, while preserving a balanced relationship that avoids excessive assertion. While the work creates strong contrast on white walls, it reveals its true character in subdued environments or against dark-toned walls, where the black ground merges naturally with the surroundings and color and movement rise quietly into perception.
