F8号というコンパクトなキャンバスの中に、UNDULATIONの緊張感と密度が凝縮されている。
近づいた瞬間にまず感じるのは、静かでありながら確かな“格”だ。

本作の核心は、24金をベースにした特殊塗料の使用にある。
一般的な金色の顔料とはまったく異なり、実際に純金を主成分として構成された塗料は、光の反射の仕方そのものが別物になる。強い輝きで主張するのではなく、光を受けた瞬間に奥行きへ沈み込み、内部から滲み出るように発光する。その反射は単なる色ではなく、“金属としての密度”そのものが視覚化されたような存在感を持つ。さらにこの素材は、生産量・調合・取り扱いのすべてにおいて極めて繊細で、安定的に扱える領域が限られている。そのため作品化できる数も必然的に絞られ、素材そのものがすでに希少性を内包している。つまりこの作品は、表現以前に「素材の時点で成立が難しい」領域にある。

その24金の層が、MANDALAシリーズの渦巻き構造に重なることで、光は単なる表面現象ではなくなる。
凹凸に沿って沈み込み、立ち上がり、見る角度ごとに“動いているように錯覚する静止”を生む。

この作品における24金は、装飾ではない。
価値を象徴する記号でもない。
むしろ“素材そのものが作品の格を決定している”と言っていい領域にある。

静かな空間に置かれたとき、その違いははっきりと現れる。
光の質が変わり、空気の密度が少しだけ上がるような感覚。
それは、限られた素材と工程からしか生まれない、純度の高い存在感。

An F8 canvas concentrates the tension and density of UNDULATION into a compact field.
The first impression, when standing close, is a quiet yet undeniable sense of “presence” and refinement.

At the core of this work lies the use of a special paint based on 24-karat gold.
Unlike conventional gold pigments, this material is formulated with actual pure gold as its primary component, resulting in an entirely different behavior of light reflection. Rather than asserting itself through brilliance, it seems to sink into depth the moment it catches light, emitting a glow that rises gently from within. This reflection is not merely color, but a visual manifestation of “metallic density” itself.

Moreover, this material demands extreme delicacy in production, formulation, and handling. It exists within a very narrow range where stable application is possible. As a result, the number of works that can be created is naturally limited, and the material itself inherently carries rarity. In other words, this work exists in a realm where its very foundation is already difficult to realize even before expression begins.

When this layer of 24-karat gold is applied over the swirling structures of the MANDALA series, light ceases to be a surface phenomenon.
It sinks into the relief, rises again, and creates an illusion of movement within stillness that shifts with every change in viewing angle.

In this work, 24-karat gold is not decoration.
It is not even a symbol of value.
Rather, it belongs to a category where the material itself determines the “rank” and presence of the work.

When placed in a quiet space, the difference becomes immediately perceptible.
The quality of light changes, and the atmosphere seems to gain a subtle increase in density.
It is a pure presence that can only emerge from such limited materials and meticulous processes.
